Below is a Detailed Overview of The Assignments on Build Day That Volunteers Will Do.
Project Goals:
The Abby's House Project will install a small Rention Wall, Dirt, Sod, Bench, and Flowers in order to beautify the space.
Project #1: Bench Installation
Activity Leader: Kaylie
Objective: Assemble and install a bench with a metal plaque to enhance the space's usability and aesthetic.
Plan:
Assembly:
Unpack bench components and follow the assembly guide provided (Bench Assembly Instructions).
Use the tools from the kit and a screwdriver for assembly.
Installation:
Place the bench on the concrete pad, ensuring it is stable.
Attach the metal plaque to the bench securely.
W4W Team Will Mount the Bench to the Concrete Pad at the end of the Day, please do not install it on the pad.
Tools Needed: Kit tools, Screwdriver

Project #2: Movement of Dirt, Installation of Garden Edging, and Weed Fabric
Activity Leader: Nick
Objective: Prepare the area for planting by moving dirt, installing edging, and laying weed fabric.
Plan:
Dirt Movement:
Transport dirt to the area and level it with rakes and shovels.
Garden Edging:
Mark the garden bed outlines and install the edging as per guidelines
Weed Fabric:
Cut and lay weed fabric over the edged area, securing it with staples.
Tools Needed: Shovels, Wheelbarrows, Rakes, Garden Edging, Weed Fabric, Staples
Volunteers Needed: 4-6
Project #3: Grass Seed Installation
Activity Leader: Anna
Objective: Seed the area to cultivate a lush, green lawn, contributing to the project's beautification efforts.
Plan:
Soil Preparation:
Clear the area of debris.
Level and lightly loosen the top layer of soil.
Seeding:
Spread grass seed evenly across the prepared soil, following the recommended seeding rate per the bag
Use a rake to ensure good seed-to-soil contact.
Watering:
Water the seeded area lightly and regularly to maintain moist soil until germination.
Tools Needed: Rakes, Grass Seed, Watering Equipment

Project #4: Plant
Activity Leader: Michael
Objective: Plant flowers to introduce vibrant colors and textures to the space.
Plan:
Flower Planting:
Arrange flowers according to the design plan.
Cut out holes in the weed fabric for them
Dig planting holes and place flowers in, then backfill with soil, pressing lightl.
Watering and Mulching:
Thoroughly water the newly planted flowers.
Apply mulch around the flowers to help retain moisture.
Tools Needed: Shovels, Watering Cans/Hoses, Mulch

Project #5: Sledgehammer Down Barriers
Activity Leader: Michael With Holy Cross Mens Hockey Team
Objective: Sledgehammer down the wooden barriers to ensure that they are secured into the ground. PLEASE DO THIS BEFORE MOVING THE DIRT INTO PLACE
Plan:
Sledgehammer the approx 20 garden stakes
Ensure they are level when sledge hammering
Tools Needed: Sledgehammer
